"Das Weingut Maximin Grünhaus liegt in Mertesdorf unweit von Trier. Vielfältige Funde wie römische Winzermesser und Amphoren deuten auf eine Weinbautradition bis ins 3. Jahrhundert hin.
In einer von Kaiser Otto I. im Jahre 966 gesiegelten Urkunde wird die Schenkung des Gutes an die Abtei St. Maximin im Jahre 633 bestätigt. Die Bewirtschaftung der Weinberge durch das Kloster erfolgte bis zur Säkularisation im Jahre 1802. Von 1882 an ist das Weingut im Besitz der Familie, seit 1981 wird es von Dr. Carl Ferdinand von Schubert geleitet".
